Being yourself | Mind & Heart to Paper #1
Hey Everyone.
I now introduce Mind&Heart to Paper where I hope to share some sayings and my thoughts on them and hopefully hear your thoughts in the comments too.
So with that introduction out of the way lets get into what I want to talk about, being yourself. I know its a subject that has been covered a million times but as a teen myself I can say that "being yourself" is a load of crap.
In highschool we don't even know who we are yet (thats what causes all the teen angst, trying to discover who we are while dealing with the pressures of school and social life).
Why tell us to be ourselves if we don't even know who that is? I think that whats is important is to be whoever you would like to be and not what anyone else wants you to be.
However I believe that by embracing who you would like to be will shape who you are and make for a more confident lifestyle. It doesn't mean create an image of yourself at such a young age and it doesn't mean be the picture perfect model. You don't have to be just one thing, envision a collage of everyone you admire a quality in and become them.
A really good example of this and the only example that comes to mind is Divergent. You don't have to fall within a faction paint your own faction with a mixture of everything and even add new elements if thats what you want.
I for one want to be kind, confident, brave, daring and creative among so many other qualities.
What do you want to be?
